Revd Andrew Avery

School Governor

I moved to Farcet a year ago in September 2019 to become the Priest-in-Charge of Stanground and Farcet Churches. Previously I had been a priest in churches in Kent and Norfolk.

I have a passion for rugby, and classic vehicles – my wife thinks I’m a bit ‘geeky’ when it comes to buses. We have a couple of dogs whom we enjoy taking for walks – especially around Crown Lakes.

Prior to ordination in 2008, I had spent over 27 years in education, with 25 of those years in special education. I taught in a special school for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties for many years, became an advisor, and spent my last 6 years as Educational Officer for Special Education and Inclusion.

I have a passion for children to achieve their potential, but equally want to see children enjoy their experiences in school.

As a Governor, I hope to bring my experience in education as well as my role as priest in the village to encourage and help develop our children, and to get alongside our families.
