Hard working Half-Term!
The first Spring half-term was a very industrious one with children beginning to really get to grips with the curriculum of their year group. It has been fantastic to see so much hard work and determination to improve by our children. I hope they all had a well-earned rest over half-term. They have all returned with the same enthusiasm and love of learning.
Events this term
Reception pupils thoroughly enjoyed preparing and eating pancakes for Shrove Tuesday this week. Rev. Carol also let an Ash Wednesday worship. Our Valentines Disco was very popular and raised £253.45. Thank you to our
Friends of SSJ and Staff for organising this.
Year 6 SATs
Year 6 are currently preparing for their end of Key Stage 2 SATs in May. Mrs Brown is very proud of the progress they have made and all the children are enjoying the challenge of ‘Being the best they can be’ during these assessments. Please be assured that our broader curriculum is still continuing. Mrs Brown will be holding a SATs information evening on Thursday 21st March from 3:30-4pm where she will be explaining the tests.
Parents Evenings
These are on Monday 26th February and Wednesday 28th February from 3:30-6:30. Please make an appointment on Schoolcloud. At these meetings, your child’s teachers will be sharing a mid-year report with you showing their current assessments.
Spring 2 Events
On Thursday 7th March we will be celebrating World Book Day in school. Mrs Sheridan will be organizing some book-themed learning for the day. We will not be asking children to dress up.
On Friday 15th March we will be celebrating Red Nose Day. For this, children are invited to come to school dressed up for the theme ‘Wear something Funny for Money’. Please make a minimum donation of £1 on Parentpay.
Staffing Change from Easter 2024
At the end of the Spring Term Miss Henriques will sadly be leaving Stanground St John’s to lead her own Nursery in Peterborough. She will be very much missed by all our pupils, families and staff. She has had a great impact on improving the quality of education for our children over the last year. Mrs Tabassum Elahi has been appointed and will be joining us from Monday 15th April.
