Love, Joy, & Respect - Be the best we can be

Our Church School Ethos

Why we are wonderfully different at Stanground St John’s Church of England Primary School!

We are very proud of our Church School status and our commitment to providing a welcoming, aspirational and loving environment for our children and their families. We have put together a few examples of how you might notice this in action in our school. Of course, words and pictures can not do justice to an environment and atmosphere, so do come and see for yourself!

Collective Worship

We celebrate whole school Collective Worship every day at 8:55am

  • Worship provides an opportunity to enhance the community life and atmosphere of the school and sets expectations for the day ahead.
  • We follow the themes of the Diocese of Ely Church Calendar and World News events (which are discussed in a Christian context, especially in the context of our class Christian Values).
  • Every half-term we also discuss a different British Value
  • If any parent requests that their child be withdrawn, this should be discussed with the Headteacher.
  • Teachers ensure that the children arrive for assemblies promptly and in silence. At the end of the assembly the children are expected to leave the hall in a quiet and orderly manner and return straight to class.
